Last year I spent $1,284 on tool subscriptions:
- Copilot: $19/mo ($228/yr)
- Notion AI: $10/mo ($120/yr)
- Jasper: $49/mo ($588/yr)
- Monitoring: $29/mo ($348/yr)
I replaced most of these with one-time purchases:
- AI Coder Pro Pack: $49 once
- A prompt collection: $29 once
- MarketPulse Bot (self-hosted): $79 once
Total: $157 once vs $1,284/year.
The difference: I own the source code. I can modify it. No vendor decides to change pricing or remove features.
Not everything can be replaced. But more than you think.
What subscriptions are you paying for that could be one-time purchases?
