Listed my first tool 2 weeks ago. Here is what I learned:
1. The product page matters more than the code
Buyers decide in 10 seconds. Clear title, specific description, sample output. The AI-generated page was good but I edited it to be more specific.
2. Price higher than you think
I started at $19. Moved to $35. Sales stayed the same. Nobody complained. Developers are not price-sensitive when the tool saves them time.
3. Free samples drive sales
I posted a free prompt in the community. 3 people bought the full pack within a week. Give away your best work. It builds trust.
4. The chat feature is underrated
Two buyers asked questions before purchasing. I answered in 5 minutes. Both bought. Direct communication beats FAQ pages.
5. Referral code is free money
Shared my referral link in my README. Two other devs signed up through it. I earn 3% of everything they sell or buy. Forever.
